I have a fascination with subways.

It might be because I grew up in rural America, but the concept of an underground rail system has always seemed alien to me. Maybe it's because subways are an unnatural but essential lifeline to a major city. People enter windowless rooms on escalators to go to work, shopping, or to otherwise live out some portion of their lives. While in these spaces they seem oblivious of others (or at least try to be).

Since the 1980's I've collected images of subways from Berlin, Paris, New York, San Francisco, Hong Kong, Beijing, Singapore, Madrid, London, Prague, and other places. These are just a few selections here.
